I was originally thinking that the genre was a short story type article as I was reading it, however, as I read further it seemed to turn into more of a vignette type style because of how much it jumped around. It is still hard to say it is completely vignette style thought because towards the end of the article it seemed to be more organized. The author of the article seems to have lots of extra knowledge on the topic of Lobsters. He uses his footnotes as a way to include some of the extra knowledge that doesn't fit in with the rest of the article. While the footnotes aren't needed for the article to make sense, they add a lot of really good additional information for the reader. One example of this is when Wallace is talking about talks about a high-ranking PETA officials that had attended the lobster festival, and goes more into detail about the one specific person.

David Wallace definitely shifts topics in his article from just simply talking about the lobster cookout festival to then talking about the "cruelty" lobsters go through when being prepared to eat. While the shift is pretty extreme, the topic Wallace ends up talking about in the end fits the title more than what he started out talking about. He is trying to get people to "Consider the Lobster" and how poorly it is being treated. It is a living thing and deserves to have certain "rights."
