Responding to "Assembling a MultiGenre Project"

One genre I will be doing is a website. The reason I chose this genre is because of how much one can do with, and add to, a website. It is also a genre that can easily contain other genres within it. With my project, I wanted to expand my audience from just people interested in ASL interpreting, to anyone who has even the tiniest interest in ASL and/or Deaf culture. I will be able to have a page on there for information about the culture, another page for basic signs, a resource page where people can find even more information on certain topics, a page for people from the community to add things to such as artwork, videos, etc. (almost like a discussion board), and so much more. It is a genre that can truly have it all. Another Genre that also reaches a wide audience is social media, Facebook specifically. It is one that has a lot of the same features as an individual website. There can be daily posts, events, gallery for photos and videos, sharing, and again, so much more.
The rhetorical appeals I plan to use for this genre are Pathos and Logos. I want part of this website to be informational because my main reason for it is to inform and educate people about the Deaf world. Therefore, logos would be a good rhetorical appeal to use. I also want part of this website to move it's audience and appeal to their emotions. The Deaf world is a minority that has been pushed into the shadows for so long, and this decade seems to be the start of bringing minorities into the spotlight. I want to show people there is more to Deaf culture than just pure hard facts. The Deaf and Hard of Hearing are people too and they deserve to be treated as such. :)
The section on sequencing your genre pieces talks about the order one should present their three or more genres to their audience in a way that best gets their intended message across. My plan for presenting my three genres is to do the poster first, then the website, and then the poem(s). The poster is a fun way to start getting information across to a wide audience. While social media and the internet have become the main way to get information out into the world in this day in age, things can still be very easy to skipped, or missed on it. A poster is simple, and effective as long as they are put in the right spot. The poster itself will be simple, yet eye-catching, and on that poster I will have the website listed so if one is interested in the topic they know where to go to find out more. I have already explained how I will use my website, but through the "discussion board" on the website I will post my poem(s) for my last genre.
